Probably since the beginning of time men have been worrying how they look and trying to find the hair loss remedies that will combat that premature balding problem. Things have not changed much in the few thousand years there have been written records of what men worried about and what they did to solve their problems.
In ancient Egypt it was common practice to rub the fat of different animals on the balding area to try and stimulate hair growth. They also recited prayers to the sun god and made a mixture comprised of animal parts. The ancient Greeks used pigeon poop, horseradish, and herbs while the native Americans of the South west were partial to aloe vera and coconut milk. Needless to say these concoctions did not act as a hair loss remedy but they smelt so bad that most people probably couldn’t get close enough to see the results. Most home remedies for hair loss today are no more effective than these recipes we make fun of now.
Natural remedies for hair loss include such things as jojoba oil and olive oil to clean the pores and manual stimulation to increase blood flow. Another current remedy is to use vitamins and minerals to improve nutrition. Like the ancients found, none of these remedies for hair loss work because they are not dealing with the real problem.
The vast majority of hair loss in both men and women is caused by pattern baldness which is actually named Androgenetic Alopecia. If this cause is not dealt with then no remedy for hair loss is going to be effective.
Pattern baldness results from a genetic condition that causes some hair follicles to be susceptible to a hormone metabolite called Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT actually bonds to receptors on the hair follicles when a person carries the gene that allows this to happen. When the follicle is bonded to the DHT it slowly loses its ability to produce hair shaft material. This happens over several growth cycles thus the hair will become thinner and thinner and eventually breaks off and falls out.
Very few of the hair loss remedies that are being touted now do anything to actually deal with this true causes of hair loss. One natural hair loss remedy that does seem to deal with DHT is Saw Palmetto extract. This natural extract has been shown to actually reduce the production of DHT in the body and thus slow down the bonding to the hair follicles. Saw Palmetto along with Nettle Root are two of the very few remedies that actually seem to do any good.
If you are looking for a hair loss remedy then be sure it actually will treat the cause of the balding problem and not just put something on your head hoping it will re-grow the hair. There is no point in using something that doesn’t deal with the DHT factor because that is the cause of most hair loss problems.
