hair loss

Are you fed up with the big drug companies charging outrageous prices for drugs when there are natural remedies for hair loss that will do the same thing? It wouldn’t be so bad if it seemed like they cared about their customers, but we are just dollar signs to them. Well, luckily, there are a couple of substances that seem to be a natural remedy for hair loss that works like the expensive drugs do.

The number one drug for hair loss in men is Finasteride which was originally developed to treat male urinary tract problems and, in particular, enlarged prostate in men. The drug was in clinical trials for the prostate treatment when it was noticed that many of the men who suffered from male pattern baldness actually seemed to slow down their hair loss and some even showed hair re-growth. Further studies indicated a link between hair thinning and enlarged prostate. The link is the hormonal metabolite DHT or dihydrotestosterone. Increased levels of DHT appear to cause both prostate problems and balding issues. When looking for a natural hair restoration treatment you want to find one that treats the amount of DHT

There just happens to be natural home remedies for hair loss based on the extract of a palm bush found in the Southeastern US. This bush, called the Saw Palmetto, has been used by Indians for years to treat, are you ready for it, male urinary tract problems. Sure enough, it has the same results that the expensive drug has. In fact, some studies indicate it works just as good if not better than the high priced pharmaceutical.

Saw palmetto can be found in health food stores and the health food aisle at grocery stores. It is not cheap, about $20 for a bottle, but it is much cheaper than the drug Finasteride. Then of course the Saw Palmetto doesn’t have to support the outrageous salaries and benefits the big pharma executive get. All it has to do is follow through on the claims which is that it treats hair loss in men.

There is another natural hair loss remedy that has been used in Europe for years. The stingy nettle root has been shown to be effective at helping to slow down hair loss due to male pattern baldness. This substance can also be found in health food stores. Of the two, it seems like the saw palmetto gives the better results. Sadly, these are not good natural hair loss remedies for women. Anything that changes the hormonal balance in women needs to be thoroughly tested. Finasteride is not prescribed to women because of the possibility of birth defects.

If you are losing your hair I highly recommend you look into natural remedies for hair loss as the answers from nature are sometimes much better than the ones from man.
