Current scientific thought believes the DHT bonds with receptors on certain hair roots that are susceptible to hair loss due the genetic condition known as Androgenic Alopecia. For men, the condition is most noticeable at the forehead area, the vertex, and the crown of the head. This drug is taken orally but is not recommended for hair restoration in women because of potential side effects.

The second drug that has shown relief from hair loss caused by Androgenic Alopecia is Minoxidil. This is a topically applied drug that is usually applied in a 5% solution. A vasodilator, Minoxidil appears to allow more blood flow to the hair follicles by increasing the size of the small blood vessels. It works well for keeping the hair you have but once you stop the application there can be a rapid increase in hair loss. Using these two drugs offers the least hair restoration cost.

Hair Loss Replacement

Once a man has lost the hair in an area of the scalp there is not much hope of growing it back from the existing hair follicles. The best solution at that time is to have a hair replacement surgery which is also known as hair restoration or hair implantation. This procedure involves transplanting hair follicles from one area of the scalp where the hair is still growing and implanting them into the scalp at the balding area. The hair restoration price for this method is fairly expensive but if you are desiring an increase in hair then it is the best method available.

It is much easier to be proactive about hair loss and try to keep what hair you already have than it is to wait till it all falls out and then get a hair loss restoration surgical procedure. Either way, in today’s culture it is important to have hair to look as young as possible.
