It was approved by the FDA in 1997.

Propecia seems to have better results than the topical application of Rogaine. It also seemed to be of more quality than the men had experienced before. Finasteride has been shown to have a hair growth affect on both the hair line and the crown but growth at the crown area was more robust. This type of hair restoration for men is usually quite expensive because of the length of the surgery and the level of skill required of the physician.

Hair restoration costs are usually in the several thousand dollar range depending on the size of the bald patch that is to be covered. A large and indepth treatment could cost above $15,000 and may be over $20,000 depending on the skill of the surgeon.
